When you allow small, automatic adjustments to your smart thermostat during times of high energy demand, you’ll earn $10 in monthly bill credits for each enrolled thermostat. It’s a simple way to earn rewards and support reliable power for everyone.

How Connected Rewards works

  • Earn up to $120 per thermostat per year.

    Enroll up to three eligible devices and earn bill credits every month you participate.

  • Don’t lift a finger.

    Automatic adjustments typically last no more than four hours and occur mostly on weekdays.

  • Experience minimal impact.

    Temperature changes are only up to 4 degrees and meant to be hardly noticeable.

  • Stay in control.

    Opt out of adjustments anytime—via your mobile app, web browser, or thermostat directly.

  • Participate your way.

    Summer only: May – September

    Year-round: January – December

Connecting your Wi-Fi thermostat

If at any point you no longer want to participate in Connected Rewards, please send an email to bgeconnectedrewards@icf.com requesting to end your participation in the Connected Rewards Program. Unenrolling from the program will end your participation for all enrolled thermostats.

The EmPOWER Maryland charge funds programs that can help you reduce your energy consumption and greenhouse gas emissions and save you money. Since the inception of the EmPOWER Maryland program in 2008, the programs have saved $14.5 billion on installed measures at a cost of $4.1 billion. In addition to new program costs, this charge includes paying off the uncollected costs that were accrued over time by programs required by the EmPOWER statute and authorized by the Commission. In accordance with House Bill 864 the uncollected amounts will be fully paid by the end of 2032.
