Say goodbye to drafty rooms, uneven temperatures, mold and moisture problems, and hidden causes of high energy use. The step-by-step information below will guide you through the Home Performance with ENERGY STAR® process—from finding your contractor through project completion and applying for all possible program rebates.
Step 1: To be eligible for rebates, select a participating contractor to perform your home energy audit. The cost for the audit is $100.* If the home is more than 3,000 square feet or has more than one combustion zone, additional fees may apply at the discretion of the contractor you select.
Step 2: Schedule your home energy audit with your contractor.
Step 3: Review the Home Energy Audit Report and Prioritized List of Measures with your contractor, discuss the findings and recommendations, and decide on the measures to implement.
Step 4: Have the work performed, which enables you to take advantage of reserving program rebates averaging $2,500 for improvements such as air sealing, insulation and replacement of heating and air conditioning equipment.
