Choosing ENERGY STAR® certified appliances is an effective way for property owners and tenants to save on energy costs without sacrificing performance. Whether replacing existing equipment or outfitting a new space, BGE offers financial incentives that make it cost-effective to choose high-efficiency models that’ll lower energy costs over the lifetime of the products.Get financial incentives to cover up to 50% of the cost of energy-efficient appliances and equipment for individual units in multifamily housing, including apartment buildings and condominiums. The following types of appliances can qualify for incentives:Air PurifiersClothes DryersClothes WashersDehumidifiersHVAC SystemsHybrid Heat Pump Water HeatersPool PumpsRefrigeratorsWho Is EligibleAnyone from renters and condominium owners to building owners, property managers and landlords can take advantage of these incentives for purchasing eligible energy-efficient appliances and equipment. However, which rebate application you need to complete and submit depends on who the BGE electric account holder is and whether the account is a commercial or residential account.How You Can Participate Are You a Building Owner, Property Manager or Landlord? Building owners, property managers and landlords with a commercial electric account: If your building has five or more units, you most likely have a commercial account. If you are the BGE electric account holder and your account is a rate schedule G, GS, GL, P or T (look under the “Electric Details” section of your BGE bill), email Business@BGESmartEnergy.com or call 410.290.1202 to get started.Building owners, property managers and landlords with a residential electric account: If your building has no more than four units, you most likely have a residential account. If you are the BGE electric account holder and your account is a rate schedule R (look under the “Electric Details” section of your BGE bill), you’ll participate through our residential appliance rebates program. Simply purchase your appliance and complete the appropriate rebate form, as needed. Are You a Condominium Owner? Condominium owners with your own BGE electric account: If you have your own BGE electric account and receive the electric bill, simply purchase your appliance and complete the appropriate rebate form, as needed, through our residential appliance rebates program.Condominium owners without your own BGE electric account: If you do not have your own BGE electric account and your property manager, building owner or condominium association pays the BGE electric bill, you should email Business@BGESmartEnergy.com or call 410.290.1202 to get started. Are You a Renter? Renters with your own BGE account: If you rent and have your own BGE electric account, simply purchase your appliance and complete the appropriate rebate form, as needed, through our residential appliance rebates program.Renters without your own BGE account: If you rent but do not have your own BGE electric account (that is, the landlord pays the bill), the number of units in your building determines which form(s) you need. The rule is as follows:If your building has four or fewer units, you’ll participate through our residential appliance rebates program.If your building has five or more units, you should email Business@BGESmartEnergy.com or call 410.290.1202.
