Join BGE’s Connected Rewards program to save energy and earn bill credits. When demand for electricity usage is high, your smart thermostat helps reduce strain on the grid, earning you $10 per thermostat (up to 3 total) in monthly bill credits each month you participate. On Energy Savings Days, you can earn even more based on how much energy you save. It’s a simple way to lower your costs and support reliable power for our communities.

Common FAQs

How Connected Rewards works

  • Earn up to $120 in bill credits per enrolled device each year you participate
  • Thermostat adjustments last four hours or less, mostly on weekdays
  • Thermostat adjustments will be a maximum of 4 degrees, and are designed to have minimal impact on participants
  • Depending on your thermostat, there may be a symbol displayed, notifying you that a thermostat adjustment is taking place
  • Opt out any time by changing the settings from your mobile device, web browser, or thermostat
  • Seasonal participation:
    • Cooling: May - September
    • Year-round: January - December

If at any point you no longer want to participate in Connected Rewards, please send an email to bgeconnectedrewards@icf.com requesting to end your participation in the Connected Rewards Program. Unenrolling from the program will end your participation for all enrolled thermostats.

The EmPOWER Maryland charge funds programs that can help you reduce your energy consumption and greenhouse gas emissions and save you money. Since the inception of the EmPOWER Maryland program in 2008, the programs have saved $14.5 billion on installed measures at a cost of $4.1 billion. In addition to new program costs, this charge includes paying off the uncollected costs that were accrued over time by programs required by the EmPOWER statute and authorized by the Commission. In accordance with House Bill 864 the uncollected amounts will be fully paid by the end of 2032.
