Mid-Atlantic Builders Brings Energy-Efficient Style to Prince George’s County

It’s true: Buyers are willing to pay more for a home that’s energy efficient. This may explain why Marylanders are flocking to Mid-Atlantic Builders’ high-efficiency, ENERGY STAR® certified new townhomes.

“We’re approaching 100 sales in the community thus far,” said Sandeep Kainth, CFO of Mid-Atlantic Builders, touring the new Melford Town Center in Bowie, MD. “Our commitment to sustainability and efficiency aligns seamlessly with the standards of the ENERGY STAR program, ensuring that our homes not only meet, but exceed energy performance expectations.”

And that’s no exaggeration. As a participating builder with BGE and the ENERGY STAR New Homes Program, Mid-Atlantic earns thousands in incentives for including low-consumption products in these townhomes, like Thermatru® doors, electric heat pump water heaters and Low-E glass windows—standard. On average, Mid-Atlantic estimates their residents could save up to 60% on their energy bills.

That’s real money back in the pockets of Marylanders.

Founded in 1979, Mid-Atlantic Builders is a family-owned business focused on bringing personalized, award-winning homes to Maryland communities. Today, they continue to deliver on founder Roger Lebbin’s vision, crafting innovative designs that bring customers features they didn’t know they wanted—and can’t live without.

“ENERGY STAR homes are built to stringent standards that exceed typical building codes,” Kainth said, highlighting features that have helped Melford’s homes sell fast. “These homes undergo a more rigorous process, with detailed attention to sealing gaps, ensuring proper insulation and reducing air leaks. This results in improved energy efficiency and a more comfortable indoor environment.”

Mid-Atlantic Builders has partnered with BGE and the ENERGY STAR for New Homes Program, earning thousands of dollars in financial incentives for each new ENERGY STAR home built while delivering incredible value for buyers.

“I would strongly encourage other Maryland builders to consider partnering with BGE and ENERGY STAR,” Kainth said. “The benefits are substantial, both for your business and for your customers … BGE provides builders with technical guidance, resources and a network of support that makes the process of achieving ENERGY STAR certification more streamlined and efficient. It’s a win-win.”
