Frequently Asked Questions Do I need to be home for a pickup appointment? For in-home pickups, an adult age 18 or older must be present. If the unit is outside for pickup and no one is home, there must be an authorization form completed and placed inside the unit. The unit will not be collected if there is no authorization form. When will I receive my rebate for my recycled appliance(s)? You will receive a check for your recycled appliance(s) within 6-8 weeks of your appliance pickup. What are the requirements to participate in the program? You must be a BGE residential electric customer with a valid account number. Your appliance(s) will be picked up, at no charge, from the address listed on your billing account.You must own the large refrigerator, freezer, dehumidifier, room air conditioner and/or mini refrigerator.The large refrigerator and/or freezer must be 10 to 30 cubic feet. Large refrigerators and freezers are eligible for a $50 reward per unit.Mini refrigerators must be 3 to 9 cubic feet. Mini refrigerators are eligible for a $25 reward per unit. What do I need to do to prepare my appliance for pickup? The large/mini refrigerator, freezer and/or dehumidifier must be cleaned out.The large/mini refrigerator or freezer must be defrosted and dry, drip pan drained and water lines disconnected. We are unable to accept any appliance(s) with mold or mildew damage.Your appliance(s) must be in working condition. If the appliance(s) are not plugged in at the time of the pickup, they will be tested at our recycling facility. If the unit is found to not be in working condition, the appliance will not be eligible for an incentive.There must be a clear and safe passage for appliance removal. Can I schedule a pickup to recycle a mini fridge, dehumidifier, or room air conditioner without including a large appliance?
