The (building) envelope, please.

BGE is delighted to announce the winners of our annual Homebuilder and Energy Rater Awards. Each fall, our EmPOWER energy efficiency team recognizes top-performing homebuilders and energy raters, celebrating their positive impact on the market for energy-efficient new homes in Maryland. The awards highlight exceptional accomplishments from the prior calendar year. And the winners are …

Homebuilder Partner of the Year: Beazer Homes

BGE congratulates Beazer Homes on their outstanding impact in the housing industry. Over the past nine generations, Beazer has crafted a legacy of constructing energy-efficient homes people love. Beazer was one of the first builders in America to construct a home that met the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s ENERGY STAR® NextGen certification—and the first in Maryland to do so. Beazer has also pledged to build 100% certified to the Department of Energy’s Zero Energy Ready Home standards by 2025. We look forward to their continued success.

Energy Rater of the Year: Pando Alliance

Pando Alliance demonstrated exceptional performance last calendar year. Their dedication to energy efficiency spanned 13 different developments, and in 2024, the efficiency of these homes generated 927 MWh of savings compared to code-built homes. Pando Alliance is an invaluable advocate for energy efficiency, always encouraging their clients to embrace the benefits of ENERGY STAR certification. Through a steadfast commitment to innovation and collaboration, Pando Alliance has become a leader in driving sustainable building practices nationwide. We congratulate them on their accomplishments.

Home of the Year: Bayview Builders

Bayview Builders soared to new heights with this 9,000+ sq. ft. waterfront property in Annapolis. The estate set a new benchmark in energy-efficient luxury homes, with leading technologies like high-efficiency air-source heat pumps and a heat pump water heater contributing to the home’s impressive 1.35 ACH (air changes per hour). Certified to stringent ENERGY STAR v3.2 standards through home energy rater Jay Hall & Associates, the Home of the Year seamlessly unifies high-performance design and sustainability into something truly greater. Congratulations to Bayview Builders for their remarkable achievement.
