Beazer Goes Big on New High-Performance Homes

Tesla solar roofs. Energy-storing Powerwalls. And ENERGY STAR® certified electric appliances from floor to ceiling.

When it comes to energy efficiency, Beazer Homes takes their commitment to building ENERGY STAR certified new homes seriously.

The Beazer family has been building homes for over nine generations, dating back to English builder George Beazer in the 1600s. Beazer has partnered with BGE’s ENERGY STAR New Homes Program to add some decidedly modern energy efficiency features to their classic home designs—and earn some serious financial incentives for the effort.

“We’re nearly sold out.”

“Most, if not all, of the annual energy consumption of the home is offset by solar,” says Bobby Thompson, Beazer’s director of operations, providing a tour of the all-new Hampton Hills homes in Ellicott City, Maryland. The energy consumption per home varies based on the homeowner’s lifestyle. “Tesla Powerwalls store the energy produced by the solar roof, so you can even power your home [independently.]”

In addition to DOE Zero Energy Ready certification, the homes in Hampton Hills are being ENERGY STAR NextGen™ certified, making them an average of 20% more energy efficient than standard new homes built to code—with 80% lower greenhouse gas emissions. And by partnering with BGE, builders earn rebates for each one, alongside federal tax credits per home built.1

“We’re nearly sold out,” Thompson says. “They’re quiet homes, very little noise … you instantly feel like you escaped the outside world.”

Not Just New—ENERGY STAR NextGen

“We see tremendous value in building homes that are ahead of code and industry expectations, and we’re proud to offer certified ENERGY STAR NextGen homes,” says Chance Hall, division president at Beazer.

The NextGen certification recognizes homes and apartments that go above and beyond ENERGY STAR’s already high standards. NextGen certified homes are equipped with leading-edge, efficient electric technologies like multi-speed heat pumps, Level 2 electric vehicle charging capabilities, and electric cooktops and ovens that improve indoor air quality.

And in Hampton Hills, with homes DOE Zero Energy Ready Certified and ENERGY STAR NextGen Certified— their value is durable today and for years to come.
