Savings at a glanceBy participating in BGE and EmPOWER Maryland’s Direct Incentives Program, the Enoch Pratt Free Library (EPFL) received financial incentives to replace old, inefficient fixtures in their flagship building, the Central Library. Work included installing strip fixtures, u‑bend lamps, compact fluorescent T8 lamps, LED recessed downlights, LED linear ambient luminaires, custom lighting controls and motion sensors. 84,162 kWh/year in energy savings $76,996 in incentives paid 168.45 metric tons of emissions saved¹With over half a million visitors a year, the Central Library is an entire system onto itself. At the end of the day, we want to show people that we care. In just 2 months, contractors upgraded over 1,000 EPFL fixtures to energy-efficient LEDs. Upgrades were made throughout the Eddie and Sylvia Brown African American Department, the Earl Teen Center for Learning and Leadership and the Maryland Department. Historical collections, including documents dating back to Maryland's founding, are now better preserved by the new LEDs. PreviousNext
