Through EmPOWER Maryland, BGE offers rebates and incentives to help you replace your home’s natural gas, oil or propane equipment—like heating and cooling and water heaters—with electric systems. What are the benefits of switching from natural gas, oil or propane to electric? Replacing your equipment can be intimidating, but the benefits of making the switch to electric speak for themselves. Here are a few to consider:Instant incentives – When you’re ready to make the switch to electric models, we offer instant rebates and additional incentives for installation, helping ease the upfront cost.Comfort – It’s an upgrade in every sense—from efficient heat pump water heaters to air source heat pumps that dehumidify your home and keep air feeling cool in the hot, humid summers.*Convenience of consolidating – Switching to electric systems from natural gas, oil or propane means it’s easier to track and manage your energy usage, month after month.** *All equipment must be AHRI rated, with the exception of smart thermostats.**Source: energystar.gov Who qualifies? If you’re a BGE customer ready to replace a natural gas, oil or propane system with electric heating and cooling or a heat pump water heater, you may qualify for additional rebates. How can I receive electrification rebates and incentives? Heat pump water heatersDon’t just replace your water heater—upgrade to an electric model that will help you save now and every month.Receive rebates of up to $1,600 off a new heat pump water heater.Plus, you could get up to $650 off installation costs and an additional 75% off home prep costs—up to $3,000.This offer is only available through Product Advisor Plus.Ready to take the next step? So, it’s important that we help find the right upgrade that’s going to work hard for you, season after season.Rebates are available through Participating Contractors.Additional incentives are available for 75% of the cost, up to $3,000, to help prepare your home for installation.Ready to take the next step? It starts with a home energy audit, where a Participating Contractor evaluates your energy use and recommends the most effective electric upgrades.The cost for the audit is $100 (a $400 value).You could get up to a maximum of $15,000 in rebates when replacing your home’s heating and cooling system or installing a heat pump water heater through the Home Performance with ENERGY STAR Program.
